world book day

Thursday, March 3, 2022 marks the 25th anniversary of World Book Day.  This charity event is held annually in the UK and Ireland on the first Thursday in March.  Funded by publisher and booksellers, every child in full-time education in the UK is given a voucher on World Book Day to be spent on books of their choice.  It is a wonderful program designed to promote the joy of reading and provide an equal opportunity for children to access books of their own.   Interestingly, this year also happens to mark the 25th anniversary of Harry Potter, so there are some really fun and exciting cross-promotional activities occurring. 

Twinkl is an UK educational resource site designed for teachers and educators.  They have a host of activities and ideas to help teachers celebrate World Book Day.  Earlier today, they posted their list of books for schools to consider in promoting World Book Day and our first book, Scoochie & Skiddles in Fun at Gramma’s, made their list (special thanks to Gina Rae Mitchell who made the recommendation on our behalf).  It is such an honor to be hand-selected and included on their list.  Click here to read their full blog post.  Of course, while it was purely coincidental, we were giddy with excitement to see that not only did we make the list, but we were also listed BEFORE J.K. Rowling’s latest book. ​
