Our books are necessary contributions in the world of children’s literature. There are precious few children’s books that feature diverse families; there are even less that feature same-sex parents. Increasing the availability of children's books that feature diverse families is important in building a more tolerant and accepting society. More importantly, when children can see "families like mine" all around them, including in their storybooks, it sends messages that they and their family are valued and important. Our stories always reflect the fact that Scoochie has two adoptive dads who are of a different race; the stories emphasize that families of all kinds are special. Thay are a must-have inclusion in every family's personal library.
